Michelle Fung: 2084 the world in fifty-nine years at Sin Sin Fine Art

  • Hong Kong Hong Kong (map)

Sin Sin Fine Art is delighted to announce the unveiling of “2084”, a solo exhibition, which features over thirty whimsical artworks across mediums, including woodcut paintings, ink paintings, and drawings by local artist, Michelle Fung.

With five imaginary countries, “2084” is the world in fifty-nine years created by Michelle, which she has been developing for the past decade. This exhibition marks an important milestone of Michelle’s ten years of research and hard work; and a focus on her continuing chapter on two fantastical realms: Contradictoria (Polluta) and Northlandia. With thorough research, creativity, and the ability to articulate, each of these countries offers some in-depth and multi-dimensional narrative. Blending irony, imaginary fiction, and complex visual metaphors; “2084” is considered to be both a reflective tale and a whimsical re-imagining of the future, challenging our perceptions of reality, environmental crisis, and human agency.

Opening Reception: 21 March 2025 (Friday), 6—9pm

Dive In at Sin Sin Fine Arts

Imagine living with a debilitating disease for the rest of your life because you were unaware you had it for so long. Imagine losing your quality of life because you were not diagnosed with a life-threatening disease in time. This is the reality for some of us in the HIV/AIDS community who did not discover their status until later in life.

AIDS Concern, which was founded in 1990, has been a strong advocate for HIV prevention and sexual health education. Over the last decade, we have helped over 200k people of all genders with HIV/AIDS testing, education and holistic support. We continue to encourage everyone in our community, regardless of orientation, age or gender, to get tested. HIV/ AIDS is a chronic, non-curable disease. Our vision for Hong Kong is Triple Zeros: zero stigma, zero new infections, and zero AIDS deaths. We aim to end AIDS by 2030.

Sin Sin Fine Arts has been a pioneer in giving back to the local community for decades. Sin Sin recognized the importance of continuing to raise awareness about HIV prevention and the associated issues, such as mental health. Sin Sin and AIDS Concern are collaborating with 17 artists for this event, and we invite you to DIVE-IN and support this exhibition. Your support will help with our continued promotion, education, and advocacy of comprehensive sexuality education as well as helping PLHIV medically and mentally, with all of our holistic services.

Antoinette Rozan: Vital at Sin Sin Fine Art

Antoinette Rozan: Vital at Sin Sin Fine Art

Freedom, movement, paradox, and energy are the words that best describe Antoinette Rozan and her work. Self-taught multidisciplinary artist for twenty years, creation is for her a vital expression, which she explores in two and three-dimensional formats. Paradox is the source of her strength. She sculpts in volume, yet sees with only one eye. She expresses that life is a perpetual energy in motion, yet her spine has been sealed since childhood. Her work embodies the joy of living overcoming obstacles and hardship. Anything is possible. When we are grounded in ourselves, we can fly. After all, our life force is linked to the heart – the vital source of all possibility. The great success of her first exhibition in France in 2005, along with Sin Sin Fine Art’s trust in Hong Kong, convinced her to devote herself to her art. Over the past fifteen years, her works have been shown in museums (Hong Kong Museum of Medicine and Sciences), fairs (Affordable Art Fair in Hong Kong), and public places (Cité Radieuse du Corbusier, Clinique Saint Martin in Marseille, Chateau de la Gaude in Aix en Provence, Pacific Place, and Tai Koo Place in Hong Kong). She continues to carry out numerous public and private commissions in France and China.

Ann Niu: 1,2,3 ất Sin Sin Fine Art

  • Hong Kong Hong Kong (map)

There is a certain pull when viewing Ann Niu’s paintings. Something about the unconstrained flow of her lines - vivacious, sensual, confident, intense. Captivating. All these can be experienced in “1,2,3” - Ann Niu’s first solo exhibition at Sin Sin Fine Art since 2010. At the core, “1,2,3” reflects the principles of her artistic creation: simplicity. She simply would like to express all the emotions that exist through her works. As simple as 1,2,3 - straight from her soul to the lines she created on her canvas and paper. However, simple does not necessarily mean easy. What appears as seemingly effortless flowing lines, shapes and colours are the result of years of dedicated creative explorations.

Ann Niu endeavours to capture the movements of what she calls the unforgetable souls. Skillfully, she poured them into her works - guided by her finely honed sensibility and intuition. Her rich experience and mastery of the brush enable her to liberate her subconscious - transforming immaterial dreams and elusive senses into poetic works of art. Their unusual beauty invites you into her mysterious realms where things seems to be floating in dynamic movements, even when they are in stillness.

To be alive is an ongoing learning process. We are all students of life: learning how to be a better person, how to really live beyond surviving. As a self-made woman, Sin Sin Man prefers to learn by plunging directly into what interests her. Fuelled by spirited curiosity, playful creativity, and aesthetic sensibility, she brings her visions to life with discipline and persistence.

Sin Sin Man creates her very own way of living, with her love for art and beauty at its core. She builds her own nest - from Sin Sin Atelier to Sin Sin Fine Art to Villa Sin Sin, curating exhibitions for Hong Kong artists as well as bringing diverse artists from the fringes of the world to Hong Kong. Sharing, and giving back to community is an integral part of her life. A self-learner with all her senses, she feels most alive when she is creating and sharing with other people.

“Back to School” beckons you to open your mind and heart with curiosity to discover more. As Sin Sin embraces change, her work keeps evolving. There are layers to unveil, to ponder, to enjoy in each of Sin Sin’s new artworks in this show. Joey Leung: Passing by at Sin Sin Fine Ar

Joey Leung: Passing by at Sin Sin Fine Ar

Sin Sin Fine Art cordially invites you to “Passing by”, a solo exhibition by Hong Kong artist and photographer Joey Leung. The show evokes a state of contemplation, with Joey’s ceramic sea animals evoking the quiet lives of those in living in time with the sea. He seeks the sense of freedom that comes with being present, like a fisherman observing the tide, and finds a sense of humour to through dark motifs such as strange marine creatures and death gods splashed on paper.

Joey grew up in Sai Kung, from a sprawling rural area known for its fishing villages, towering mountains, beaches, and slow lifestyle. It is where Hong Kong citizens escape from the tension and bustle of the city. This juxtaposition between the two sides of Hong Kong has meant that his mind is in constant movement and his subjects are often caught mid-action, while searching for a freer state of mind. His art ponders the complexities inherent in the act of being present while facing the realities of life.

Joey infuses his emotions into his works to allow people to stop and feel. Using his wit, he draws lively skeletal figures that play with the idea of time, while his marine ceramics evoke a single moment – the quiet contemplation of fishermen as they trust that the sea will ebb and flow and bring their catch to them. As they let any worries float by in that moment. And so through his works, Joey hopes to impart that feeling of freedom that comes with letting thoughts pass by, carried out by the waves.

Pablo Posada Pernikoff: Velocity at Sin Sin Fine Art

Since the late 1980s in Italy, with a background in engineering and mathematics French-Colombian artist Pablo Posada Pernikoff has been experimenting with lines that express movement. He then moved to Japan in the 1990s, marking the start of a new journey that brought a different dimension of abstraction and vision towards nature and one’s surroundings, as well as a pliability for adaptation to different cultures.

In this body of work, Pablo expresses movement and change in time through lines and light that interact with different materials. Looking at the world now, he embraces fluidity as he navigates our ever-changing realities, with nature and science as a constant source of inspiration.

Zhang XiaoDong: Flow at Sin Sin Fine Art

  • Hong Kong Hong Kong (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

From 17th March to 10th May 2023, Sin Sin Fine Art is bringing you the first solo exhibition of the Chinese national treasure artist Zhang XiaoDong in Hong Kong—“Flow”. Not only will the exhibition showcase Zhang’s internationally acclaimed works Dragon scale binding “Diamond Sutra in 32 zhuan (seal) fonts” and “Dream of The Red Chamber” in Accordion-Dragon scale binding, there will also be 4 works that were never-before-exhibited that signposted the transformation and breakthrough in Zhang’s artistic career.

As the successor of the intangible cultural heritage Dragon scale binding and inventor of Accordion-Dragon scale binding, Zhang XiaoDong steadily created 8 binding works. From the Buddhist classics Diamond Sutra and Heart Sutra to “Dream of The Red Chamber” and “Poetry & Calligraphy of Mao Zedong” etc, Zhang brought the Dragon scale binding that budded in Tang, bloomed in Song and revived in the modern days to an international stage, and had his solo exhibition in the La Biennale di Venezia as a guest artist.

The curator of this exhibition — Sin Sin Man— put the focus on Zhang’s enlightenment of the heart and his inheritance of old to develop the new in his contemporary works. Zhang’s binding works are exquisite and demand great patience and self-cultivation for their making. The 4 new works are the extensions of the artist’s personal work “Thousand Pages” series, using tension-filled visuals and details that are intricate yet orderly, he leads the audiences into his world, voyaging through the abstract and the figurative, the intervention and the laissez-faire.

“The world is Yin intertwined with Yang, and the interaction between the two creates harmony.”

From February 17th to March 11th 2023, SIN SIN FINE ART is presenting its new exhibition — Anti-Fragile. We are presenting 3 artists and their works using 3 mediums: Photography, design & sculpture. Different mediums employed by the artists echoed each other in strength and vitality also offers their perspectives on how anti-fragility is being addressed through art while using different contexts:

Society: Alun’s is an exploration of the impact of technology on society. The intention of this exhibit is to provide a visual narrative of faith in a digital future in which humanity teeters on the cusp of fully merging with technology.

Materiality: Ousmane’s work on metal transforms what would be seen as most robust of the materials into what could be perceived thank to the design work as a fragile creation.

Sustainability: Clive’s ingenuity in using upcycled material breathes new life into mundane objects of our consumerist society.

It is no coincidence that these 3 perspectives are from African artists, a continent where one may tend to describe anti-fragility as “informed optimism”, through its ability to cope with numerous challenges while building stronger foundations to deal with the unknown & thrive.

Anti-Fragile exhibition aims to offer an inspiring and positive note to our ability to thrive and grow when exposed to volatility, randomness, disorder, and stressors risk, and uncertainty. The artists’ medium and styles are unorthodoxy in genuine, as if they are children observing the world. To quote the Tao De Jing, “the world is Yin intertwined with Yang, and the interaction between the two creates harmony.”

Exhibiting Artists :
Alun [Be] - Senegal, Clive Mukucha - Zimbabwe, Ousmane Mbaye – Senegal

Mixing modern Western elements into ancient Chinese lacquer techniques which create a spark between expression of mediums, Wensen has been exploring the infinite possibilities of perseverance of traditions in contemporary times. Deeply touched by the aesthetics of the nature, he has also further explored the integration of lacquer with lithography, engraving, relief piling, mosaic collage and incrustations.
Wensen’s fortitude and patience does not only create the eternity in his lacquer works, instead, it also manifests the common vision of Sin Sin Man and Wensen. Expecting to emerge and bloom in their paths.

The diversity of their creation versatile has received high acclaims from the public, that their masterpieces include functional wares, ceramic sculptures, mixed-media works and installations. It is hoped that their works can be a medium for everyone to have a deeper insight into the ceramic history of Hong Kong.

“Attitude determines altitude”, having a positive attitude will always bring us up higher in life. It is simply a way of responding to life in a manner that allows us to accept duality, overcome challenges and recover from adversity. Our curator, Sin Sin Man believes that the word – “Attitude” does not convey the meaning of negativity. On the contrary, it means the strength of power and vitality. Looked back to four ceramic artists, they all have undergone a long journey of their life but still very fascinating in searching fun, having a good sense of humour and insist on creating their own identity. Their attitude for living is really inspiring to people who is surrounded and depressed by the cramped social atmosphere nowadays.

Sin Sin Fine Art is delighted to present ‘Roots’, a duet exhibition featuring the works from Hong Kong artist, Lee Man Sang and Chongqing-based French artist, Wensen Qi (Vincent Cazeneuve). An inner dialogue with roots, values & identity. The distinctive journey of the nomadic duo inspired the exhibition title — ‘Roots’: The lacquer master, Wensen Qi represents the “uprooted”, leaving his hometown in France and moved to China to decipher the secrets of lacquer. Lee Man Sang, a quiet wanderer who return to his roots after 15 years, alienated from the cityscape and devoting in his creation at a tranquil village in Hong Kong. Both artists’ surreal displacements in the dynamic cities symbolises the sense of magical realism, their artworks become part of the fabric of normalcy, interspersed throughout everyday real life. The artists challenges the definition of ‘roots’. Roots are not born of nature but made and crafted by the human mind. It is shaped by the values, principles and core spirituality that make us who we are.

“For over 17 years, I’m inherited with rolls of unknown artworks stored in the corner of the gallery warehouse. Longing that one day someone will knock my door to reclaim the paintings, one rainy afternoon I peeped in the corner, finally unrolled them.

Like traveling through time, the hidden gems from those unknown artists brought me back to 17 years ago when I started Sin Sin Fine Art. It took a little research and asking around to traced back their creators and reconnect with them. Here, I’m so excited to share the works of six Balinese artists who represent the diverse narratives of Balinese art through their unique personal lens.” – Sin Sin Man
