Alfred Cheng: The Tsunami of Butterfly at KC100 Art Space

  • Hong Kong Hong Kong (map)

Even if you're in the midst of a difficult time, keep in mind that you were once a butterfly, coming out of a cocoon, in pursuit of transformation.

Butterflies maybe relatively smaller in size and live a shorter lifespan than other creatures, but despite all this, they don’t look back at where they start. They are constantly flapping their wings through a world full of obstacles, seeking and flying towards their goals. If you are temporarily lost in a sea of troubles, please remember that at some point in the past, you must have made the decision to set off a tsunami even with just a single wing. Though the process may leave you with wounds, but at least it proves that you are still alive. Now, find the courage you once had to break out of an even tougher shell and become a bigger butterfly that flies further than ever. In this exhibition, you will see Hong Kong based thread artist, Alfred Cheng, connecting the striking transformation of butterflies with those who may be lost; using one simple line, linking up the relationship between courage and destiny.
