Scott Kahn: Once in a Blue Moon at David Zwirner

Scott Kahn: Once in a Blue Moon at David Zwirner

Love the art, loved the artist even more. It’s always difficult to separate art from the artist, but it’s especially challenging if the artist is that charming!
I’ve been enjoying Scott Kahn’s works for quite some time — the mixture of realistic and symbolic depictions he uses in his slightly eerie landscape is particularly captivating. But it was the story of long struggle and relatively sudden success that happened only in recent years that really intrigues — as all good stories do. Scott attributes his breakthrough to the late artist Matthew Wong, with whom they formed an immediate connection online and enjoyed a brief friendship in real life. As the artist put it, “Matthew posted my painting on his IG, and that transformed my life.”
