Nov 7 Hong Hao: New Works at Pace Gallery

One of the famous Karl Marx’s quotes goes: "Religion is the opium of the people." Hong Hao’s painting states that commodities are. Throughout the human history we can repeatedly see people being obsessed with and divided by the primary excess to them.
The shards and remnants of flawed Song Dynasty porcelain, destroyed and buried so that still desired commodity won’t be used by the people outside of the royal family can be a rather good illustration.
